  • Columbus Career and College Academy competed Friday, April 28th & Saturday, April 29th at BBQ on the Bluff in downtown Fair Bluff.  The team consisted of Principal Nicky Hobbs, Culinary Instructor Chef Sherman Axelberg, Intro to Culinary student Dorien Dixon, and Culinary Concentrator Hannah Brown.  The team finished fifth in the BBQ sauce contest and finished seventh in the overall contest.  CCCA is looking forward to next year’s contest.
  • Congratulations to CCCA’s Fred Mason for being awarded Teacher of the Year for CCS 2017!
  • Spring Plant Sales are underway @ WCHS & SCHS.
  • CCCA attends 5th SkillsUSA South Central Regional Rally (Click here to read more).
  • Columbus County Medac-EMS donated an ambulance to SCHS’s EMT program.  Southern Tire donated the transportation of the ambulance to the school.

  • SkillsUSA students completed a community service in helping Fair Bluff Baptist Church move some boxes.
  • WCHS’s Horticulture II students completed a floriculture project. They bought wholesale roses and filler, pre-sold rose arrangements to students and staff, and arranged them for Valentine’s Day.
  • CCCA hosts On Friday, February 3rd, Columbus Career and College Academy hosted their first ever SkillsUSA Elevator Speech contest.  Ten students competed in a thirty second answer to the question, “What is SkillsUSA?”  Everybody had a great time. Allyson Tedder (2nd Place), Ryan Troy, Shawn Dinsmore (1st Place), Abigail Forrester, Natasha Villalobos, Jennifer Florian (3rd Place), Josue Ciprian, Arizona Tompkins, MaeHalia Gaddy-Howell, Summer Council

  • CCCA’s Culinary Students Cater Retirement Dinner for CCS.
  • Congratulations to CCCA’s Natasha Villalobos for winning the SkillsUSA Local Pledge Contest.
  • Congratulations to CCCA’s Blair Watts with her 2nd place finish in the Terri Hemmert High School Student Radio/Audio Award in the category of Radio Public Service Campaign/Production from the Columbia College of Chicago’s Radio Department from the School of Media Arts.
