Target Field Trip Grant Allows Advanced Art Students to
Travel to Brookgreen Gardens
A grant from the
Target Corporation allowed a group of sixty advanced art students to
travel to Brookgreen Gardens to see the nation's largest installation of
outdoor sculpture. The students engaged in pre trip activities such as
research on the artists in the gardens, and then followed up with
sculptures of their own after the field trip was completed.
Columbus County Schools to Hold Uniform Vendors Meeting
for Local Clothing Merchants July 14th
Only July 14th, 2010 Columbus County Schools will hold an informational
meeting for all local clothing vendors. The purpose of this meeting is to
inform and prepare vendors for Columbus County Schools implementation of
the Uniform Dress Code during the 2011-2012 school year. Any vendor who is
interested in providing uniforms should attend.
The meeting will be held from 9am until 11am at the Columbus County
Schools Board of Education, at the Professional Development Building.

Lowe's Grant
Old Dock Elementary wins Lowe's Toolbox for Education
Grant Old Dock Elementary was awarded $2820 through the Lowe's Toolbox for
Education Grant. The money was used to place a fence for safety along the
ditch of the front playground of the school. Now in its 5th year of
helping build better schools and communities, the Lowe's Toolbox for
Education program has provided more than $20 million to nearly 5,000
schools across the country.
