Good Afternoon, Old Dock Families,
This week at the Dock, we will continue with our World’s Finest Chocolate Sale. You all have done an amazing job selling candy, and the staff and I are so proud of you for participating in this fundraiser. If you weren't able to sell candy, that's okay! You can still purchase a few bars from the office. We appreciate every candy bar that is sold, and it all makes a difference. Stop by the office to grab one and make your day a little sweeter! The fundraiser officially ends on Nov. 4.
Upcoming Events:
Monday, Oct. 21: Fall picture makeups.
Tuesday, Oct. 22 & Wednesday, Oct. 23: Students who ride Bus 206 will be split between Bus 60 and Bus 203. Your child will receive a note on Monday with their temporary bus assignment for these days.

We look forward to an exciting week ahead!

We want to remind you that Monday, October 14, is Parent-Teacher Conference Day. This is a great chance for you to meet with your child’s teacher and talk about how your child is doing in school.
There will be no school for students on this day, so we can focus on these important meetings.
Conferences will be held from 11:30 AM to 7:00 PM, so you can pick a time that works best for you. You can choose to meet in person or online, whichever is easier for you.
During the conference, you will learn about your child’s strengths, areas where they can improve, and how we can work together to help them. To set up your conference, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
Thank you for supporting your child’s learning!

Good Afternoon Old Dock Families,
This week starts our World’s Finest Chocolate Fundraiser. Tomorrow a flier providing details of the sale will go home with your child. If you are interested in participating and helping raise money for the school, then complete the form and return it to school. Once the permission form has been completed you may begin selling.
Help support our third and fourth grade spelling bee participants. The spelling bee will take place at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, Oct. 8. Good luck to all the contestants.
Parents please make sure that you have signed up for Remind and Here Comes the Bus. These two apps are used by teachers and administration to communicate with you. If you need assistance with downloading these applications, then please contact the school. You will need your child’s school identification number and the code 29893 for Here Comes the Bus. More details about Here Comes the Bus can be found on the county’s webpage.
Our book fair ended on Friday. Thank you for supporting this event and for encouraging your child/children to read. It is important that children read every day or listen to someone read to them.
This concludes the messages for the week. Thank you for supporting Old Dock Elementary School.

See all the amazing k-12 art at the fair!!

Due to ongoing flooding and the potential for hazardous travel conditions, Columbus County Schools will conduct Remote Instruction on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024. This applies to both students and staff. Schools will provide additional details regarding assignments and remote learning procedures. Students will be allowed to make up work missed during Remote Instruction. All extracurricular activities are canceled.
We understand that closing schools for in-person instruction is disruptive and that students benefit most from being in the classroom. However, the safety of our students, parents, and staff is our highest priority. Based on current reports and observed conditions, traveling to and from our campuses could be dangerous tomorrow, particularly in the areas hardest hit by the flooding.
We aim to resume in-person instruction on Wednesday, September 18th, provided conditions improve. We will keep you informed of any updates to this plan.
