At TCS, 3rd grade has been busy! We have used maps to determine absolute and relative locations. We explored our own shadows to see how the sun moves through the sky during the day and shadows change depending upon how high the sun is in the sky. We explored creating our own shadows because we learned that opaque objects block the light and create shadows.

At TCS, Mrs. Lee’s 8th grade ELA students prepared to dive into Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery” through interactive pre-reading stations! Students used context clues to uncover key vocabulary, made inferences from images and book covers, learned about author Shirley Jackson, previewed the story, and explored the role traditions play in their own lives. They’re ready to see how those clues and ideas connect as we begin reading! 🔎📖

📐📚 Learning by Doing at Tabor City School! 📚📐 Our 5th grade math students participated in a hands-on activity designed to strengthen their understanding of finding the volume of rectangular prisms! Students worked in groups and rotated through charts, adding important information, strategies, and examples. This engaging activity gave them the opportunity to collaborate, share their thinking, and learn from one another while building their math skills. ➕📏 We love seeing our students actively engaged in learning and working together to solve problems! Way to go, 5th grade! 🎉👏 #TaborCitySchool #TaborCityTigers #5thGradeMath #HandsOnLearning #MathInAction #Collaboration #LearningTogether

At TCS, 7th grade students in Mrs. Lee’s ELA class took a closer look at the villains of Rikki-Tikki-Tavi—Nag and Nagaina! 🐍📚 Using a collaborative placemat format, students analyzed and ranked textual evidence from strongest to weakest. Through group discussions, they defended their rankings and explained how the evidence supports Nag and Nagaina’s portrayal as villains. Students put close reading, collaboration, and evidence-based reasoning into action!

DEADLINE SEPTEMBER 4TH!

The ToothMobile is Coming to Columbus County Schools!

The Columbus County Health Department ToothMobile will be visiting Columbus County Schools throughout the 2026–2027 school year. The ToothMobile is a mobile extension of the Columbus County Health Department Pediatric Dental Clinic, located at 810 Spivey Road in Whiteville.

Services offered through the ToothMobile include:
• Dental cleanings
• Dental exams
• X-rays
• Sealants
• Fluoride varnish applications

If additional treatment such as fillings, crowns, or extractions is needed, that treatment will be scheduled at the Columbus County Health Department Dental Clinic or with another pediatric dentist.

The dental clinic serves all patients regardless of their ability to pay. Private insurance, government insurance, Medicaid plans, and uninsured patients are accepted.

WHAT PARENTS NEED TO DO:

If you would like your child to be seen by the ToothMobile this school year, complete the ToothMobile Interest Form and return it to your child's school by September 4, 2026.

https://aptg.co/MtcH46
