Here are some reminders for this week at West Columbus High School. Our 11th graders will travel to Southeastern Community College on Tuesday for Junior Day. On Tuesday our FFA Forestry team competes in a federation competition. The ASVAB will be administered on Wednesday. Representatives from UNCP and SCC will be on campus on Thursday. On Friday Jostens will be on campus to meet with juniors and seniors. An FFA officer meeting is also scheduled for Friday. Our volleyball teams continue with conference play with a Tuesday match versus East Bladen and a Thursday match at Hobbton. JV action begins at 4:30 PM each day. Our men's soccer team travels to Union on Wednesday for a 6 PM game. On Friday our varsity football team travels to East Columbus to take on our conference rivals at 7 pm. The next training session for new substitutes will be held on October 1 from 3:30–5:00 p.m. at Central Services. This training is for new classroom, cafeteria, and custodial substitutes.
Anyone attending must have already completed a substitute application and met all employment requirements before participating in the training.
The session will cover Columbus County Schools Board policies, district expectations, and required Title IX training.

Here are some reminders for this week at West Columbus High School. Senior vaccines are due on Tuesday. The FFA Regional Leadership Conference takes place on Tuesday as well. The Annual FFA Steak Plate Fundraiser will be held on Friday. On Saturday, the annual Miss West Columbus High School Pageant will take place in the WCHS Auditorium. Our Men's Soccer Team hosts Hobbton on Monday at 5 pm and travels to North Duplin on Wednesday for a 6 pm game. Our volleyball teams host Lakewood on Tuesday and East Columbus on Thursday, with JV action beginning at 4:30 pm. On Friday, our varsity football team travels to Lakewood for a 7 pm kickoff. The ToothMobile is Coming to Columbus County Schools!
The Columbus County Health Department ToothMobile will be visiting Columbus County Schools throughout the 2026–2027 school year. The ToothMobile is a mobile extension of the Columbus County Health Department Pediatric Dental Clinic, located at 810 Spivey Road in Whiteville.
The goal of the ToothMobile is to help Columbus County students access dental care and establish a dental home — a place where children can receive regular, ongoing dental care in a familiar setting.
Services offered through the ToothMobile include:
• Dental cleanings
• Dental exams
• X-rays
• Sealants
• Fluoride varnish applications
If additional treatment such as fillings, crowns, or extractions is needed, that treatment will be scheduled at the Columbus County Health Department Dental Clinic or with another pediatric dentist.
The dental clinic serves all patients regardless of their ability to pay. Private insurance, government insurance, Medicaid plans, and uninsured patients are accepted.
WHAT PARENTS NEED TO DO:
If you would like your child to be seen by the ToothMobile this school year, complete the ToothMobile Interest Form and return it to your child's school by September 4, 2026.

Parents who select “Yes” will receive additional registration paperwork in the weeks before the ToothMobile visits their child's school. Additional paperwork must be completed before your child can receive services.

Here are some reminders for this week at West Columbus High School. Thank you to all of our staff, students, and parents for helping make our first week of school a success. We ask that parents and students make sure they arrive at school in plenty of time for our first bell at 7:55 am. Students arriving late miss important instructional time and disrupt the classroom environment. Parents and students are also reminded that food deliveries are prohibited during the school day. Heeding these simple reminders will make our instructional days more efficient. This week our Volleyball teams travel to South Columbus on Monday, East Columbus on Tuesday, and East Bladen on Thursday, with JV matches beginning at 4 pm. This is a great opportunity for students to get their state required vaccines at a drive thru clinic hosted by Columbus County Health Department next Tuesday, August 18th from 4:00pm-6:30pm.
This evening, Columbus County Schools sent invitations for parents to enroll in Rooms, our new parent/teacher communication platform.
Please follow the instructions you received from Thrillshare.com to complete your enrollment. If you did not receive an invitation, your child’s teacher can assist you during Open House and once school begins.
We will also provide additional information and guidance after this initial step.

Sub training sessions...
The HEARTS Foundation will host a Back-to-School Drive-Thru on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 116 Miller Street in Chadbourn, behind Worthington Funeral Home. Children must be present in the vehicle to receive a backpack and school supplies. The event will take place rain or shine.

Congratulations to Ari Britt for being awarded the "Heart of a Champion" award from the NCHSAA Wednesday June 10 at their annual awards ceremony in Greensboro! Ariana Britt was nominated by her cheer coach Tasha Dyson. Ari was also awarded the NCHSAA/Cheersounds scholarship as well as the North Carolina Cheer Coaches Association Cheer Scholarship this year!
