Paraprofessional Appreciation Day is a special day dedicated to those who work in a classroom supporting students to ensure educational success. In the school sector, paraprofessional educators are also known as Behavior Support Specialists, ISS & Alternative Learning Facilitators, Teacher Assistants, and Paraeductors. These fantastic people deliver targeted support to students who may need extra help and work to maintain the classroom, keeping it running smoothly. Paraprofessionals are the unsung heroes of the education system - without their strong foundation, teachers frequently report feeling overwhelmed and overworked. Paraprofessionals help shoulder the workload and allow teachers to focus on what they do best - teach! Paraprofessional Appreciation Day seeks to bring these professionals to the forefront and show them a little extra love for all the incredible work they do, day in and day out.

In social studies, WTS third graders are learning about state and local government - and the officials and citizens that keep our local government safe and efficient. Today, we had Officer Mitchell from Columbus County Sheriff’s Department came to speak about his job and the importance of following the rules and doing the right thing in order to help our community safe.
