We are honoring Hispanic Heritage Month. During library sessions with Ms. Worley at WTS, Kindergarten students enjoyed the book "All Around Us" by Adrian Garcia. They created their own quilts depicting the things they cherish in their families and lives. In 1st and 2nd Grade, students listened to "Pepe and the Parade" by Tracey Kyle, creating floats that symbolize their families and interests. Meanwhile, in 3rd and 4th Grade, students engaged with "How Alma Got Her Name" by Juan Martinez, sharing their favorite aspects of their names and the reasons behind them.

It has been a busy week in Mrs. Darrow and Ms. Cotton’s class. This week we read a story Chrysanthemum and compared the number of letters in our names to Chrysanthemum. We also colored our name flower and described ourselves using one word. Today was Johnny Appleseed’s birthday. We have been talking about apples all week and had an apple tasting with peanut butter and caramel. We took a survey to see which apple was their favorite and wrote about it.

Today pre-K at WTS went on a bear parade with their favorite stuffed animal and the wagon that they made as a home project. While we were on the parade we learned where the office was and met the office staff. We learned where kindergarten through second grade was and we learned where the gym was. We were cheered on by kindergarten through second grade students which really made us feel special. Great self esteem and community building experience.
