
This week, we celebrate Arts in Education Week! We pay tribute to the dedicated educators and supporters who enrich students' lives through the arts. The arts are instrumental in preparing our students for the future, offering invaluable experiences to enhance their studies- and their lives.





There will be a community feedback session at ECJSHS on Tuesday, September 10th. Join us to learn about the new K-8 school on the eastern end and share your thoughts on the facility. This is a drop-in event, so feel free to stop by anytime between 6:00 and 8:00 PM.

We would like to thank the ADES PTSO for hosting a wonderful Back to School Dance! The students had a great time and enjoyed themselves! Thank you as well to all staff members and parent volunteers who chaperoned our dance! We appreciate your help!
1. On Tuesday, September 10th, there will be an informational Community meeting at East Columbus JR/SR High School regarding the new PreK – 8 School. This meeting will start at 6:00 PM and last until 8:00PM. All parents, students, and community members are invited to attend!
2. Parents please be aware that buses are continuing to finalize bus routes, and it will take several days for routes to stabilize so we please ask for your patience and understanding.
3. Parents of Pre-K and Kindergarten students are reminded that an adult must be present at pick-up and drop of at all bus stops.
4. All student cellphones will be collected at the beginning of the day by classroom teachers and returned to students at the end of the day every school day.
5. Transportation Changes must be in written form and must be completed by 2:00 PM daily. We do not accept phone calls or text message transportation change requests.
6. All documents sent home with your students the first day of school must be signed and returned asap! These include parent compact, cell phone policy, student profile sheet, etc.
7. Please remember that students are counted tardy if they are not in school by
7:45 AM. Our instructional day is from 7:45 AM to 3:00 PM daily!
8. Car Rider students are to be dropped off at the car rider line only and not at the front of the building due to safety concerns. Please adhere to speed limit in the car rider drop off area.

We would like to thank everyone, parents, students, and staff for a fantastic first week of school!
1. Columbus County Schools will be closed for staff and students on Monday, September 2nd for the Labor Day Holiday. School will resume on a normal schedule on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024.
2. All 3rd Grade Students will the Beginning of grade Reading assessment on Thursday, September 5th. We ask that all 3rd grade student arrive to school on time, have a good breakfast, and get a full night’s rest prior to testing. If a student is late to school and the test has already started, then the student will have to make-up the test on at an alternate time.
3. The ADES PTSO will host a Back-to-School Dance on Friday, September 6th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Admission will be $7.00 and includes a slice of pizza and a drink. Additional items will be available for purchase!

We are excited to welcome back all our students and staff tomorrow for our first day of school for the new school year! Here are a few reminders for the first week of school:
1. Parents please be aware that buses may be later or early to pick up and drop off students tomorrow! It will take several days for routes to stabilize so we please ask for your patience and understanding.
2. We will have plenty of staff members to help guide students to their classrooms tomorrow. Only parents of Pre-K and Kindergarten students may walk their students to classes on tomorrow!
3. Parents of Pre-K and Kindergarten students are reminded to only bring their student(s) to school on the day that they are schedule to attend this week due to staggered entry.
4. Grades 4-6 will be bringing home information regarding registering for their elective selections on Monday, August 26th. We ask that parents of these students please take the time to review this material and talk with your students about which elective best suits their interests. Please return all elective forms signed to your student’s homeroom teacher by Thursday, August 29th!

ADES will provide transportation to East Columbus for tryouts however, parents must pick up their students at 5:00 PM at East Columbus.

All staff members attended convocation today at East Columbus Jr.-Sr. High School. The day focused on initiating our new Learning Framework, developed by the Curriculum and Instruction Department. Superintendent Beck also shared his vision for the upcoming year. Additionally, we recognized our Principals and Teachers of the Year. Congratulations to Kristie Leinthall, Principal of the Year from Acme Delco Elementary, and Dr. Anthony Martin, Teacher of the Year from East Columbus Jr.-Sr. High. We extend our gratitude to the faculty and staff of East Columbus Jr.-Sr. High for their outstanding work in hosting the event.
