The Winter Semi-Formal Dance Sponsored by the BETA club is postponed this evening due to school being closed/virtual and also road conditions. We have rescheduled this event for Thursday, January 30th from 530-730 PM. Admission is $8.00 and incudes a drink and slice of Pizza ! Columbus County Schools will be conducting Remote Instruction on Thursday, January 23rd.
Since tomorrow marks the first day of the new semester for traditional high schools, teachers have added students to their 2nd semester Google Classrooms. Students, please log in to your Google Classroom and click the "join" button to connect with your new classes in the morning. If you have schedule issues, please contact your counselor via email.
All other students should log in to Google Classroom for further instructions.

1. January 24th, the BETA club will host a Winter Semi-formal Dance from 530:7:30 PM. We ask that all students who attend to dress up for this event! This is dance is a fundraiser for our BETA Club who will be attending the state conference in Greensboro at the end of January! The admission cost for the dance is $8.00 and will include a drink and slice of pizza. There will be other items available for purchase such as candy, chips etc.! We hope to see all our students at this exciting event!
2. Attendance is important at ADES for our students! Remember we are striving to achieve a 95-96 % attendance rate weekly. For the week of January 6th our attendance rate dipped to 88.48%. In third place for attendance is 4th grade at 89.52 %, in second place, is first grade with a rate if 89.77%, and in first place is 2nd grade with a 91.55% attendance rate. Please remember that students learn best when in school with their teacher and teacher assistants.
3. Please remember that our school day starts promptly at 7:45 AM and ends at 3:00 PM. We ask that all students attend school regularly and to arrive on time as well as stay the entire instructional day!
4. Parents just a reminder that transportation changes must be in written form and submitted before 2:00 PM daily. We do not accept phone call or text message changes.

2. Thank you to everyone who purchased doughnuts to support our Beta Club and school! The doughnuts were delicious and fresh!
1. Parents are invited to attend our Christmas event on Thursday, December 19th at 1:00 PM in the gym! We have a school art exhibit that will be displayed all through the building with our student’s artwork, Pre-K classes will be singing, and we will have the East Columbus Jr/Sr Band playing a concert full of Christmas Music!
2. Our Beta Club will be selling Santa Candygrams daily during lunch times! Santa Gams will be delivered daily to students in the afternoons! The cost of each candygram is $1.00! Be sure to buy your candygrams during your lunch time for friends, family, and even your teacher!
3. On Friday, December 20th school will release at 1:00 PM for the holiday break! We ask that you please arrange transportation for your students on this day to accommodate the early release time! Also, students may wear pajamas this day as we will be having holiday activities and even some movies to view such as Polar Express.
4. CCS will be closed for students for the winter/holiday break from December 23rd through January 3rd. Teachers and staff will have an optional workday on January 3rd.
5. Parents of Pre-K and Kindergarten students are reminded that an adult must be present at pick-up and drop of at all bus stops.
6. Transportation Changes must be in written form and must be completed by 2:00 PM daily. We do not accept phone calls or text message transportation change requests.
7. Please remember that students are counted tardy if they are not in school by
7:45 AM. Our instructional day is from 7:45 AM to 3:00 PM daily!
8. Car Rider students are to be dropped off at the car rider line only and not at the front of the building due to safety concerns. Please adhere to speed limit in the car rider drop off area.
