This is Kristie Leinthall, principal of Acme Delco Elementary School with an important announcement:
CCS and ADES administration are aware that we still have some roads that are closed due to flooding. These roads are Livingston Chapel, Water Tank, Brinkley, Swimming Hole, HWY 87, and Old Lake Road in specific areas. Parents, please know that we want our students and their families to always be safe. If your student cannot meet the bus or is unable to attend in person tomorrow, we will offer a Virtual Option, or your student(s) will be able to make up any assignments. Bus drivers have also been advised to be extra cautious and use the safest routes possible for tomorrow. Once again, we request that our students and our families follow the safest option for travel whether by bus or by personal vehicles. If your student is unable to attend, please reach out to their classroom teacher via Remind or email and we will provide assignments for your student(s).
Should you have any additional questions or concerns please contact the school at 910-655-2957.
Thank you and have a wonderful evening!
Columbus County Schools will operate on a regular schedule on Wednesday, September 18th, with the following exceptions:
Acme Delco Elementary
East Columbus Jr. Sr. High
CCCA students who ride east-end buses
These schools and affected CCCA students will have a 2-hour delay. Staff at these locations will also be in a 2-hour delay.
If you believe travel conditions in your area are unsafe, please contact your principal in the morning. Our main concern is safety.

Due to ongoing flooding and the potential for hazardous travel conditions, Columbus County Schools will conduct Remote Instruction on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024. This applies to both students and staff. Schools will provide additional details regarding assignments and remote learning procedures. Students will be allowed to make up work missed during Remote Instruction. All extracurricular activities are canceled.
We understand that closing schools for in-person instruction is disruptive and that students benefit most from being in the classroom. However, the safety of our students, parents, and staff is our highest priority. Based on current reports and observed conditions, traveling to and from our campuses could be dangerous tomorrow, particularly in the areas hardest hit by the flooding.
We aim to resume in-person instruction on Wednesday, September 18th, provided conditions improve. We will keep you informed of any updates to this plan.

There was a strong turnout at the Community Feedback event for the new Eastern End K-8 school. Participants provided valuable input on space design, school spirit through logos and imagery, and site features.
