🌟 Welcome Back, Panthers! 🌟
We are so excited to begin the 2025-2026 School Year at Hallsboro Artesia Elementary School! I feel beyond blessed to continue leading this amazing school as we make great strides in academic growth together. 🐾
At HAES, we ROAR every day:
💛 Respect
💚 Own
💛 Achieve

Let’s make this our best year yet! 💫

✅ Parents may walk students in on the first day only.
✅ Doors open at 7:40 AM ⏰.
✅ Instruction begins promptly at 8:15 AM.

🚌 Transportation Update
We know the first few days can be a little confusing—thank you for your patience! 💙
🚫 The Here Comes the Bus app is not yet working as we transition information from last year.
🚗 Please be patient at drop-off & pick-up.

⚠️ All transportation changes must be made in person before 2:00 PM. We cannot accept changes over the phone for student safety.
📲 Stay Connected with REMIND!
The Remind App is the fastest and most effective way to get school updates. 🐾 Please sign up to stay informed and connected throughout the year. Don’t miss important announcements!
🚀 Exciting News: Opportunity Culture at HAES
This year, HAES is proud to join the Opportunity Culture Model! This means additional teachers will be in classrooms providing more support for your child’s learning needs. 📘✏️
We are thrilled to begin this new journey to ensure every child grows and succeeds. 🌟
💛 A Special Thank You 💛
Lastly, I want to sincerely thank every family that attended our Open House. Each year runs smoother as we work through schedules and rosters, and this year was no exception. I was truly amazed by the support—🍿 popcorn, 📸 photographs, 😂 laughs, and 🤗 hugs filled the building.
I wholeheartedly believe this year is going to be a wonderful one. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart—I look forward to an amazing school year here at HAES! 🐾💚

Good Afternoon, Hallsboro-Artesia Families,
This is Dr. Hill with your weekly announcements! 🌟
🥫 Battle of the Books – Canned Food Drive
Our Battle of the Books team is hosting its annual Canned Food Drive!
The classroom that donates the most items will win a pizza party! 🍕
All donations will be collected by the team and distributed to families in need during the week of Thanksgiving. Let’s give generously and show our Panther Pride! ❤️
🎗️ Red Ribbon Week (October 28–November 1)
Thank you to everyone who participated in Red Ribbon Week!
We enjoyed seeing all the creativity, costumes, and school spirit from both students and staff. You make HAES shine! 🌟
📚 Book Blast Is Underway!
Book Blast is a fun reading adventure that helps students build their own home libraries while supporting a love for reading.
Each student has a personal link to invite family and friends to sponsor their reading journey—and the best part is that students earn free books for their efforts!
Families can help by:
Sharing their child’s Book Blast link
Encouraging reading at home
Celebrating milestones along the way
Let’s work together to make sure every Panther takes home new books to enjoy! 🐾📖
📝 Report Cards
First Quarter Report Cards will be coming home on November 6th.
Report cards give families a snapshot of how students are doing academically—showing progress, areas of success, and where more support may be needed.
While grades are important, growth is what truly counts. Every child learns at their own pace, and steady improvement over time shows that hard work, perseverance, and learning are taking root. Let’s celebrate effort, progress, and the journey of learning together! 🌟
📆 No School – Tuesday, November 11
Please note that there will be no school next Tuesday in observance of Veterans Day. 🇺🇸
This is a change from our usual Monday or Friday closures, so please mark your calendars accordingly.
⏰ Attendance Matters!
Every school day counts! When students are present, on time, and stay for the full day, they learn more, build strong habits, and stay connected with friends and teachers.
Early checkouts, late arrivals, and consistent early departures can cause students to miss important instruction and disrupt routines.
Let’s make every minute count—because every day matters at HAES! 💙🐾
📅 Dates to Remember
November 6: Report Cards Go Home
November 11: No School – Veterans Day 🇺🇸
November 26–28: No School – Thanksgiving Holiday 🦃

During the October Board meeting, the Board of Education recognized the entire Transportation Department for its outstanding achievement in state inspection scores. Columbus County transportation teams earned some of the best scores in this region of North Carolina. The Board also expressed appreciation for their hard work and dedication to ensuring the safety and reliability of student transportation every day.
The Columbus County Fire Marshal’s Office, in conjunction with the Office of the State Fire Marshal, is proud to announce that we have received 1,000 smoke detectors donated by Kidde, one of the nation’s leading fire safety product manufacturers. These detectors will be distributed throughout the county in recognition of Fire Safety Month.
Each fire department within Columbus County has been supplied with an allotment of these smoke detectors for installation in homes across their respective districts.
We encourage all families throughout the county to take advantage of this free smoke detector check and installation program. This initiative ensures that every home has properly functioning and up-to-date smoke detectors. If any detectors are found to be outdated, missing, or not working, new ones will be installed free of charge.
