Columbus County Schools was honored to receive a Certificate of Appreciation, and Hallsboro-Artesia Elementary School was proudly recognized as a Purple Star School. The Purple Star designation is awarded to schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families. These schools go above and beyond to ensure smooth transitions for students who may frequently move due to military assignments. They provide dedicated staff support, maintain resources for military families, and foster a welcoming, inclusive environment where military children feel valued and understood. Mrs. Amber Howard joined Mr. Beck in accepting this prestigious recognition on behalf of HAES. This honor reflects the school’s ongoing dedication to meeting the unique social, emotional, and academic needs of military-connected students and ensuring every child feels supported and at home.

Today, our school conducted a brief safety drill as part of our participation in the Project ADAM program, which focuses on preparing staff and students to respond to a cardiac emergency. The purpose of this drill was to practice how we would respond quickly and effectively in the unlikely event of a sudden cardiac arrest at school. Students were safe at all times, and the drill was conducted in a calm and controlled manner. We share this information with you, so you are aware in case your child mentions the drill at home. Activities like this help us maintain a safe environment and ensure that our staff is well-prepared to respond to emergencies. We will continue to conduct periodic drills throughout the remainder of the school year to reinforce these procedures and ensure continued preparedness.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Nurse Karen at https://www.remind.com/join/nursekj or 910-212-8030.

Thank you for your continued support.
