DEADLINE SEPTEMBER 4TH!
The ToothMobile is Coming to Columbus County Schools!
The Columbus County Health Department ToothMobile will be visiting Columbus County Schools throughout the 2026–2027 school year. The ToothMobile is a mobile extension of the Columbus County Health Department Pediatric Dental Clinic, located at 810 Spivey Road in Whiteville.
The goal of the ToothMobile is to help Columbus County students access dental care and establish a dental home — a place where children can receive regular, ongoing dental care in a familiar setting.
Services offered through the ToothMobile include:
• Dental cleanings
• Dental exams
• X-rays
• Sealants
• Fluoride varnish applications
If additional treatment such as fillings, crowns, or extractions is needed, that treatment will be scheduled at the Columbus County Health Department Dental Clinic or with another pediatric dentist.
The dental clinic serves all patients regardless of their ability to pay. Private insurance, government insurance, Medicaid plans, and uninsured patients are accepted.
WHAT PARENTS NEED TO DO:
If you would like your child to be seen by the ToothMobile this school year, complete the ToothMobile Interest Form and return it to your child's school by September 4, 2026.
https://aptg.co/MtcH46
Parents who select “Yes” will receive additional registration paperwork in the weeks before the ToothMobile visits their child's school. Additional paperwork must be completed before your child can receive services.
Please review the attached ToothMobile Information Sheet and Interest Form for complete details and to indicate your interest.
Questions? Contact the Columbus County Health Department Dental Clinic at (910) 640-6615 ext. 7041.

What a great first week of school at Nakina Middle School! We want to thank each of you for helping us start the 2026–2027 school year on such a positive note. Your patience, support, and encouragement make a difference as we work together to create the best possible experience for our Mustangs.
We especially appreciate your flexibility and patience with our morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up procedures. As we continue to monitor the number of vehicles and daily traffic flow, we may make adjustments to help keep our car lines safe, efficient, and moving smoothly. Thank you for working with us and following the directions of our staff as we fine-tune these procedures.
Please take a few minutes to review this week's newsletter for important information and upcoming events.
We are grateful to have such supportive families as part of our Mustang community. Week one is complete, and we're just getting started! Here's to another week of learning, growing, and making great things happen together!

We are so excited to welcome our Mustangs back to Nakina Middle School! Whether you are returning or joining our school family for the first time, we are glad you are here!
As we begin a new school year, here are a few important reminders to help everyone have a safe and smooth start.
🚗 MORNING CAR DROP-OFF
7:30–7:45 A.M.
Our morning drop-off traffic pattern will remain the same this year.
Car riders may enter the building between 7:30 and 7:45 a.m. This arrival window helps us follow the proper safety and security protocols for everyone entering our school.
🚌 MORNING SHUTTLE FROM ODES
Departs Old Dock Elementary at 7:35 A.M.
We know mornings can be busy—especially for families with children attending more than one school!
To support our families, NMS students who have a sibling at Old Dock Elementary School may ride the morning shuttle bus from ODES to Nakina Middle School.
📋 Transportation Request Required
A parent/guardian must complete a Transportation Request Form and return it to the Nakina Middle School office before using the shuttle.
🚙 AFTERNOON PICK-UP
Our afternoon car and bus pick-up traffic patterns will also remain the same this year.
Please follow the established traffic pattern and directions from staff members to help us keep dismissal safe, organized, and efficient.
💛 THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE!
The first week of school is always a time of adjustment. As we welcome more students, bus routes and car lines may take a little longer than usual.
We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we monitor our procedures and make adjustments when needed.
WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE A MUSTANG!
We are thankful to have you as part of the Nakina Middle School family and look forward to a wonderful year of learning, growing, achieving, and celebrating together!
