The fable, The Ant and the Grasshopper, was performed at Tabor City School on Tuesday, April 14 by Pork Chop Productions Theatre. The live performance included a hard working ant and a lazy grasshopper who was busy being a social media influencer. The performance taught an important lesson of ‘how hard work pays off.’ Other morals (life lessons) were also presented throughout the play. It was enjoyed by all!

At TCS, 5th grade students took part in conservation efforts by growing Venus Flytraps in their classroom to replant at Carolina Beach State Park, on the Venus Flytrap Trail, which is the ecosystem they can be found. Venus Flytraps are only found in North Carolina and South Carolina in the coastal areas, no where else do they grow. The Park Ranger told us that people come from all over the world to visit that park just to see the Venus Flytraps in our very own backyard.

As part of our March Madness Challenge, this week, students turned learning time into MOVEMENT time—combining rigorous thinking with relay races, partner games, math manipulatives and lots of smiles as they showed what they know. Thank you to our teachers for designing engaging, standards-based activities that get bodies AND brains moving, and to our students for giving their best effort on every play. Columbus County Schools is all in on making learning active, joyful, and challenging—on and off the court! Check out the video: https://youtu.be/3WZen5ASBW0

6th Grade Read Across America Week: Dress Like Your Future Career Day 👩🏽‍⚕️👨🏽‍🔧👩🏽‍🏫 Our 6th graders had a great time celebrating Read Across America Week by dressing as their future careers! From principals and teachers to athletes, entrepreneurs, and Ms. Vereen as a RETIRED beach lady, students showed creativity while thinking about the many possibilities their futures hold. It was exciting to see them connect reading, learning, and goal-setting while imagining the paths they may take one day. The future is bright! 🌟📚
