At TCS, 8th grade students worked together in groups today during ELA to escape the breakout room. Students were tasked to read the text, “Examination Day,” find the task folders, break the codes and be the first to escape. Students worked on teamwork, analyzing theme and plot to prepare for their narrative writing task.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Ms. Vereen’s 6th graders analyzed the lyrics of “Dreaming of You”, determined the mood, pulled out symbolism, analyzed the speakers feelings in stanza 1, and wrapped up doing Selena’s famous WASHING MACHINE dance! 🥳
Winners received a bag of treats and a McDonald’s gift card.

At TCS, Mrs. Cribb and Mrs. Rivenbark’s 2nd grade classes collaborated in reading, "Which Way Does the Wind Blow?" After reading the story, they created wind streamers!











TCS 8th grade students worked on their ELA review for their text of the week, “Phineas Gage.” Students were tasked to rotate through stations for the activity. One station was a major hit where students played a game of vocabulary review by playing spoons. There was a lot of laughs and friendly competition today!





Walking Nacho Wednesday takes center stage in the Colts Cafeteria at Tabor City School!






At TCS, a mad mathematician locked all of Ms. Tart’s classes in her classroom on Thursday. In order to escape, groups had to use their skills with quadrilaterals to solve math problems and critical thinking skills to figure out puzzles to retrieve the key to break out of the classroom. Luckily all students made it out just in time!




At TCS, Kindergarten students taste tested different apple varieties! They made predictions and then tested their tasty theories! 🍎

Due to the potential for hazardous weather, Columbus County Schools will conduct Remote Instruction on Friday, September 27th, 2024. This applies to both students and staff. Schools will provide details regarding assignments.
Extracurricular activities will continue as planned on Thursday. All extracurricular activities for Friday are canceled.


Proofs will be sent home so parents may place orders and payments.


At TCS, Ms. Tart’s 6th Grade math students put their area skills to the test today in a “Matho” (math version of Bingo) competition today. The students were asked to look at the picture of a polygon and calculate the area. The interactive word wall was key for students who needed a reminder of the formulas and a multiplication chart was provided for students who needed fact reinforcement. Brook and Sophia reign supreme in the end! Winners took home a Walmart gift card ☺️










At TCS, Ms. Williamson’s 8th grade ELA class worked together to answer text dependent question after annotating the text, “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson. Students were tasked to work together to get each answer correct before moving on. Groups that got each answer correctly, were able to put their group number into a lottery square for the final drawing to win a prize. Students used various strategies to work together while working in a timely manner to beat the clock!
