Late post! TCS celebrating our amazing bosses!

Tabor City School & Nurse Jennifer would like to THANK the SCHS HOSA students and Mrs. Gurkin for coming to assist with our annual mass vision and hearing screenings! You all did a wonderful job and we wish you success with the remainder of your senior year. 👀✅

At TCS, Ms. Williamson’s 8th grade class created a mindset presentation.

Mrs. Cribb's 2nd Grade class at Tabor City School adopted their very own cow! We received information about our calf yesterday. Her name is Lainey and is a Jersey Cow from Dusty Road Jersey Farm in Statesville, NC. We are super excited to learn all about her and watch her grow these next months.

At TCS, the Colt's Cafeteria, led by Mrs. Christy and her staff, have been enthusiastically celebrating National School Lunch Week. Students have participated in treasure hunts and have won prizes, while the PK and kindergarten classes created artwork that is now displayed in the cafeteria and our PK students received humorous banana minions as a reward. The celebration will continue today, and we are so excited. 💜

At TCS, Mrs Smith’s first grade class is participating in the Adopt-a-Cow program this year and they got to meet their cow, Lainey. They will get to track her growth and get updates on how she is doing throughout the year.

At TCS, Mrs. Vereens 6th graders participated in AVID interviews.

At TCS, Ms. Vereen’s 6th graders went on a few book speed dates! Students were given 5 minutes per station. During this time, they read the book’s profile, skimmed through the first few pages, and got a feel for the book.
Book speed dating is a fun and engaging way to introduce students to a variety of books in a short amount of time, helping them discover new genres and authors they might enjoy.

It's fall ya'll! Feeling festive at TCS!
💜🧡🎃

At TCS, Mr Cartrette’s 7th Grade ELA class took up food and supplies for Western North Carolina as a class project. Colts are NORTH CAROLINA STRONG!

We want to remind you that Monday, October 14, is Parent-Teacher Conference Day. This is a great chance for you to meet with your child’s teacher and talk about how your child is doing in school.
There will be no school for students on this day, so we can focus on these important meetings.
Conferences will be held from 11:30 AM to 7:00 PM, so you can pick a time that works best for you. You can choose to meet in person or online, whichever is easier for you.
During the conference, you will learn about your child’s strengths, areas where they can improve, and how we can work together to help them. To set up your conference, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
Thank you for supporting your child’s learning!

Fun at the fair! 🎃💜

At TCS, 8th grade students worked in groups to create a suspenseful short narrative based on the station cards. As students rotated through the stations, they pulled random cards to construct descriptive details about the conflict, setting, characters, challenges and types of suspense. Students then took all of the details to construct a collaborative narrative full of suspense!

At TCS, 6B (Ms. Tart’s homeroom) wanted everyone to know that they escaped too!! 🤣 They celebrated in a big way 😂
