Please take time to enjoy our winning 2024 Christmas Card submission, which was designed by sophomore Lia Specht, under the instruction of Ms. Sams. The design was painstakingly carved using a printmaking technique called linocut, in which a design is carved into a linoleum block and then transferred onto the final print surface. Out of several impressive creations, Lia's was chosen for this year's card design. Please congratulate Lia on the winning design and thank Ms. Sams for guiding her students through this creative process!

NC Check-Ins for Biology, English II, and Biology will be administered on Wednesday, please make sure all tested students are prepared to give their very best effort. Mr. Beck's Student Advisory Council had an engaging discussion about reducing student absences. Students offered insight on why absences occur and what can be done to reduce absenteeism.




Join us for the 22nd Annual Columbus County Schools Dance Festival on November 21st at 7:00 PM at West Columbus High School. This exciting event will feature a variety of student-choreographed dance pieces from across the district.

Here is an update to our events for the week. On Thursday, the Columbus County Dance Festival will take place in the West Columbus High School Auditorium at 7pm. Please join in celebrating our talented students.

Here are some reminders for this week. On Monday evening, our Powder Puff championship game will take place at Viking Field. On Tuesday, the Annual FFA Gold Card Banquet will be held in the WCHS Cafeteria. On Wednesday, the Apprenticeship Open House will be held at Southeastern Community College. On Thursday, the annual Dance Festival will take place at South Columbus High School at 7 pm. On Thursday, our FFA will compete in the Eastern Region Livestock Judging competition. Tryouts for our Boys Basketball teams will be held Monday at 3:00 pm in the WCHS Gym. All student-athletes trying out for these teams must have a completed physical and Concussion Documentation. On Friday, our Basketball teams tip off their seasons at home versus North Brunswick, with our JV Boys tipping off at 4:30 pm. All spectators are reminded that ticket limitations, no bag policy, and spectator mandatory seating in bleachers will be enforced for all basketball games. On Saturday, November 9 our JROTC Viking Battalion marched in the annual Whiteville Veterans Day Parade. Several other Vikings also participated in this celebration, with all representing WCHS with pride! GO VIKINGS!!




On Friday, November 8 the West Columbus High School Chapter of the National Honor Society inducted 30 charter members. We are proud of these Vikings, who display the scholarship, service, leadership, and character that signify members of this distinguished society. Thank you to our chapter sponsor, Mrs. Alicia Thompson, for organizing this ceremony and providing our students with this opportunity. GO VIKINGS!!




West Columbus High School is proud to announce that our very own Kenzie Nix was selected as UNCP Teacher Cadet of the Month for November!
Kenzie, a Senior Viking, was selected as the winner from nominations across the state by the UNCP selection panel.
She received a certificate, goodie bag, t-shirt, and her very own yard sign to display at her house!
We are so proud of Kenzie for this amazing accomplishment! Congratulations, Kenzie!!

Also on Wednesday, the Student Poetry Workshop will be held at CCS Central Services from 10 am to 2 pm. On Thursday, our Powder Puff championship game will take place at 6 pm. On Friday and Saturday, our FFA will compete in the State Land Judging Competition. On Friday, our Varsity Football team competes in the first round of the NCHSAA 1A state playoffs at KIPP Pride High School in Gaston County. Kickoff for Friday's game is scheduled for 7:00 pm. On Saturday, our WCHS Dance students perform at the Minnie Evans Arts Center at Ashley High School in Wilmington. In observance of Veterans Day, all schools will be closed on Monday, November 11th. This important day gives us the opportunity to reflect on and honor the brave men and women who have served in our nation's military.

Prior to kickoff, we will honor all of our senior football players and cheerleaders.
