Good Afternoon, Hallsboro-Artesia Families,
This is Dr. Hill with your weekly announcements! 🌟 I hope everyone had a restful and joyful Thanksgiving Break. We are gearing up for a very busy two weeks here at HAES, and we want to ensure your family has all the important information.

1. i-Ready Middle-of-Year (MOY) Diagnostics
Beginning next week, students will take their Middle of the Year i-Ready Diagnostics in both Reading and Math.
This assessment is extremely important—it determines each child’s instructional pathway within the i-Ready program.
📌 This Week:
Teachers in Grades 3–6 will be holding student data conferences to help students understand their goals and prepare for the assessment.
📌 Next Week:
For the first two hours of each day, all students will be testing. Please ensure your child arrives on time and is well-rested.

2. HAES Christmas Program – Friday, December 19th
Our annual Christmas Program will be held on Friday, December 19th at 9:30 AM in the gym.
🎄 Important Reminders:
This event fills up quickly—very quickly! Please be prepared to sit in the bleachers.

Doors open at 8:30 AM.

Parking will be limited, so we encourage carpooling when possible.

After performing, students must return to their classrooms.

Parents may check students out after the program by following proper checkout procedures.
Please do not take your child from the gym.

Thank you for helping us keep students safe and accounted for!

3. Upcoming Field Trips
We have several field trips scheduled next week.
Please make sure you are connected to your child’s teacher on Remind. Teachers will be sharing important details, reminders, and updates over the next two weeks.

4. Early Release – December 19th
December 19th is a half day.
Students will dismiss earlier than normal. More details will be shared as the date approaches.

5. 📱 Holiday Celebrations & Parent Volunteers
As we approach the holiday season, many parents wish to help with classroom celebrations, crafts, and activities. We welcome volunteers, but the safety of our students is our top priority.
If you plan to volunteer:
You must complete a volunteer application (available in the front office).

Please bring: driver’s license, Social Security card, and $20 for the background check.

Background checks are required every year, even if you completed one last year.

📝 Report Cards
First Quarter Report Cards went home last week.
Report cards provide a snapshot of how students are performing academically—highlighting areas of success and where extra support may be needed. While grades are important, growth is what truly counts. Every child learns at their own pace, and steady improvement shows that hard work and perseverance are paying off. Let’s celebrate effort, progress, and the journey of learning together! 🌟

No School – Tuesday, November 11
Please note that there will be no school tomorrow in observance of Veterans Day.
(This is a change from our typical Friday or Monday closure pattern, so please mark your calendars accordingly.)

⏰ Attendance Matters!
Every school day counts! When students are present, on time, and stay for the full day, they learn more, build stronger habits, and stay connected with friends and teachers.
Early checkouts, late arrivals, and frequent early departures can cause students to miss important instruction. Let’s make every minute count—because every day matters at HAES! 💙🐾

📱 Stay Connected with Remind!
Communication between home and school is one of the most important parts of your child’s success—and Remind makes it easy!
If you haven’t already joined our school’s Remind messages, please do so today. This is how we share important updates, schedule changes, school closings, and special event reminders directly to your phone.
Remind is free, secure, and allows you to receive quick messages from your child’s teacher or from Dr. Hill. You can also reply directly if you have a question or need clarification.
👉 How to Join:
Download the Remind App or visit remind.com/join.

Enter your child’s teacher’s class code.

Be sure to enable notifications so you never miss important information!

Let’s stay connected—because when school and families communicate, our Panthers thrive! 💙🐾

📚 Book Blast Is Underway!

Book Blast is a fun reading adventure that helps students build their own home libraries while supporting a love for reading.
Each student has a personal link to invite family and friends to sponsor their reading journey—and the best part is that students earn free books for their efforts!

Families can help by:

Sharing their child’s Book Blast link

Encouraging reading at home

Celebrating milestones along the way

Let’s work together to make sure every Panther takes home new books to enjoy! 🐾📖

📝 Report Cards

First Quarter Report Cards will be coming home on November 6th.
Report cards give families a snapshot of how students are doing academically—showing progress, areas of success, and where more support may be needed.
