Good Evening Panthers! This is Dr. Hill with your weekly announcements!
1. Our candyman fundraiser has begun here at HAES! We appreciate all of the support our parents and community provide during our first Fall Fundraiser. All of the proceeds go back to the school and help with our monthly PBIS celebrations and Guardian Gala in the Spring. The student that sells the most will get to "pie the principal" and win $100! Please help support our school.
2. Fall picture information will be going home with your child this week. Our picture day is October 1st. Please make your calendars.
3. Book Blast starts on October 3rd. More information regarding bookblast with be forthcoming. This is a wonderful opportunity to get books in the hands of each student at no cost!
4. Please remember to not block the road to the right of the school. Please use the this road to turn around in the back of the school to avoid cars having to stop on the curve. This is extremely important and creates a very dangerous situation for parents during pick up and drop off.
5. Kindergarten Parents: All health Assessment Forms are due to Nurse Karen by September 24th. After this day, if students do not have the require health form they will not be allowed to attend school. For more information, please contact Nurse Karen on the Remind App or by calling the school.
6. Lastly, no transportation changes may be made over the phone. These must be done in person or written notification-- notes must be turned into the front office. We also stop our early departures at 2pm daily.
Have a wonderful evening and we look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

A huge thank you to Jordan Hill and Woodmen of the World for their generous donation of a new American flag to Hallsboro-Artesia Elementary School! 🇺🇸 We are proud to display this symbol of our nation, and we appreciate your commitment to supporting our students and community. #Patriotism #CommunitySupport

Columbus County Schools will operate on a regular schedule on Wednesday, September 18th, with the following exceptions:
Acme Delco Elementary
East Columbus Jr. Sr. High
CCCA students who ride east-end buses
These schools and affected CCCA students will have a 2-hour delay. Staff at these locations will also be in a 2-hour delay.
If you believe travel conditions in your area are unsafe, please contact your principal in the morning. Our main concern is safety.

Due to ongoing flooding and the potential for hazardous travel conditions, Columbus County Schools will conduct Remote Instruction on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024. This applies to both students and staff. Schools will provide additional details regarding assignments and remote learning procedures. Students will be allowed to make up work missed during Remote Instruction. All extracurricular activities are canceled.
We understand that closing schools for in-person instruction is disruptive and that students benefit most from being in the classroom. However, the safety of our students, parents, and staff is our highest priority. Based on current reports and observed conditions, traveling to and from our campuses could be dangerous tomorrow, particularly in the areas hardest hit by the flooding.
We aim to resume in-person instruction on Wednesday, September 18th, provided conditions improve. We will keep you informed of any updates to this plan.

Congratulations to our Panther Employee of the Week, Mrs. Christy Deal. Mrs. Deal is a jack of all trades and wears many hats at HAES. In addition to being our media specialist, she also coaches our Battle of the Books teams, manages all testing, and takes care of our technology. Thank you for all you do Mrs. Deal!

There will be a community feedback session at ECJSHS on Tuesday, September 10th. Join us to learn about the new K-8 school on the eastern end and share your thoughts on the facility. This is a drop-in event, so feel free to stop by anytime between 6:00 and 8:00 PM.

Good Afternoon Panthers! This is Dr. Hill with your weekly update for the week of September 8, 2024.
1. Tomorrow, September 9 we will have Kona Ice on Campus. Please be sure to send money for this sweet treat if you would like your child to participate.
2. This Tuesday, September 10th we will have a Community Event regarding the new East end School at ECJSH. This is a drop in event where individuals will get a first hand look at the new school and be able to share ideas. The event will start at 6pm and run until 8pm.
3. If you have not already done so, please make sure that you sign up for REMIND app. The remind app is most convenient way to communicate with your child's teacher. This is extremely important because our teachers here at HAES use the app to also give important information and announcements for the class.
4. We are continuing to work on the Here Comes the Bus App. Please be patient as routes are getting adjusted still. If you need your child's ID number, please contact your child's teacher.
5. Lastly, No transportation changes may be made over the phone. These must be done in person or written notification-- notes must be turned into the front office. We also stop our early departures at 2pm daily.
Have a wonderful evening!

Last year the students of Hallsboro-Artesia Elementary School came together to create a beautiful collaborative feather mural. Today it was proudly hung on the wall! Each student contributed a uniquely decorated feather, symbolizing individuality and the power of teamwork. This vibrant mural is now a reminder that when we work together, we can create something truly amazing. Great job, Panthers! 🖌️✨ #Teamwork #PantherPride #StudentCreativity #HallsboroArtesiaElementary

There will be no school on Monday, September 2nd, in observance of Labor Day.

Good Afternoon Panthers! This is Dr. Hill with your weekly update for the week of September 1, 2024.
1. Please remember that we have no school tomorrow in observance of Labor Day. Students will come back on Tuesday, September 3rd.
2. This year, one of our goals is to improve our late arrivals of early dismissals. Leaving early not only disrupts your child's learning but also takes time away from meeting your child's academic needs. Please limit the number of late arrivals and early checkouts as much as possible.
3. If you have not already done so, please make sure that you sign up for REMIND app. The remind app is most convenient way to communicate with your child's teacher. This is extremely important because our teachers here at HAES use the app to also give important information and announcements for the class.
4. I want to thank all parents for a successful first week of school. We have worked extremely hard to ensure that students were safe and learning this week. I also want to thank parents for your patience when it comes to the bus and car pick up and drop off. As we get the year going these things become much easier and the flow becomes much faster. Thank you for all that you have done.
5. Here are a few reminders to remember as we get started in the year. No transportation changes may be made over the phone. These must be done in person or written notification. We also stop our early departures at 2pm daily. We are still looking for volunteers here at HAES. If you want to volunteer please make sure that you get a volunteer form and return it to your child's homeroom teacher or the office. You will also need a copy of a social security card, license and 10 dollars.
We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday. Have a wonderful evening!

Thank you to Palmyra Missionary Baptist Church for their donation!

Welcome Back! Today it was so nice to see smiling faces and learning back on the hallways at HAES. There are a few reminders: 1. Parents-- please remain in your car during the carpick in the afternoon. This is to keep all students safe at the end of the day. We know the lines are long but it is important for us to keep order and efficiency during that time. Our pickup line goes much faster as time goes on. 2. Bus and Transportation Changes: Please remember that changes cannot be made over the phone. A written note and a change in person is the only acceptable method of transportation changes for students. 3. Please give grace to our Bus Drivers. Bus drivers have one of the most difficult tasks there is. Learning a new route along with students takes time. Please make sure that you give grace to our drivers. We can assure you that all students will be dropped off and pickup as early as possible. As time goes on, this becomes much faster. Each child went home today with a "Here Comes the Bus" form. Please take a look and call your child's teacher or the front desk if you need to know your child's ID number. 4. Middle School Girl and Boy Soccer Try outs! Coach Donovan Anderson and Coach Reah Jacobs want to let all 6th graders know that tryouts for the MS boys and girls soccer will be held on Wednesday (28) and Thursday (29). Students will need an updated physical form completed by a physician before they can practice and tryout. The time for the tryouts are 3pm-4:45pm daily. If students are bussed over to ECJSHS they need to report to room 217. For more information please contact those coaches above. We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.
