Columbus County Health Department will be visiting Columbus County Schools to offer Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap) and Meningococcal vaccines to rising 7th and 12th graders. This is an excellent opportunity for students to receive their state required vaccines. If you are interested in your child receiving these vaccines while at school, please complete the paperwork and sign the consent that will be sent home April 3rd. All forms will need to be turned in to your child’s school by April 17th. Vaccines Information Sheets will be provided. Paraprofessional Appreciation Day is a special day dedicated to those who work in a classroom supporting students to ensure educational success. In the school sector, paraprofessional educators are also known as Behavior Support Specialists, ISS & Alternative Learning Facilitators, Teacher Assistants, and Paraeductors. These fantastic people deliver targeted support to students who may need extra help and work to maintain the classroom, keeping it running smoothly. Paraprofessionals are the unsung heroes of the education system - without their strong foundation, teachers frequently report feeling overwhelmed and overworked. Paraprofessionals help shoulder the workload and allow teachers to focus on what they do best - teach! Paraprofessional Appreciation Day seeks to bring these professionals to the forefront and show them a little extra love for all the incredible work they do, day in and day out.

Last week, our 8th graders had an exciting opportunity to explore Southeastern Community College’s CTE mobile lab! The mobile lab, equipped with the latest tools, brought hands-on learning experiences in electrical engineering, mechatronics engineering, and HVAC technology right to our school. It was a fantastic way for students to get a glimpse into the future of technical education and explore potential career paths in these growing fields. Columbus County Schools will be working with Columbus County Health Department to offer our current 6th graders (rising 7th Graders) the state required Meningococcal and Tdap vaccines ON CAMPUS May 2, 2025. Parents will need to complete the permission/consent forms that will be sent home on April 4th and returned by April 17th. This is a great opportunity offered to our students which will save parents time and money. Being proactive will help parents to avoid long lines, waiting for appointments and will prevent the student’s exclusion from school. This is in accordance with Immunization Law GS 130A-155. If you have questions, please contact our School Nurse.

Baseball had a big win in Bladenboro this afternoon, dominating from start to finish. The team played with incredible energy and teamwork, securing a well-deserved victory. Great pitching, solid defense, and timely hitting made it a game to remember.
