Today we had a special guest reader, Paige Blackwell, join us for Read Across America Week! She read "If It Were My Birthday Party" to our 2nd graders and even brought a sweet treat for everyone to enjoy. Thank you for helping us celebrate the joy of reading!
Thank you to Rusty Davis for visiting our 2nd graders today for Read Across America Week! 📚
He shared two fun Dr. Seuss stories, Yertle the Turtle and In a People House. Our students loved having a special guest reader and celebrating the joy of reading!
We appreciate you both taking the time to support our students and make reading extra special! ❤️📖

Students created thoughtful and creative projects honoring influential African American figures and their contributions. From detailed posters to inspiring presentations, our young learners put their hearts into recognizing the importance of history, culture, and achievement.
We are so proud of their hard work and the meaningful connections they are making! 🌟 #WCSWarriors #BlackHistoryMonth

Today, our Warriors showed off their wildest styles for Wacky Tacky Wednesday, and the smiles were just as bright as the outfits! Even more special, we welcomed senior student athletes from West Columbus High School who visited our campus to read with several of our classes.
It was a great day of laughter, learning, and leadership in action! 💙📚

On our last teacher workday, a dedicated group of 8th graders stepped up and showed what it truly means to lead during our **When Students Lead Retreat**. While it may have been a day off for students, these incredible young leaders chose to come in, collaborate, and grow together.
Throughout the day, they built leadership skills, strengthened teamwork, and brainstormed ways to make a positive impact in our school community. Their commitment, maturity, and enthusiasm were inspiring to see! 💙👏

Our amazing 5th graders had a blast creating edible food webs using snacks to represent the sun, producers, consumers, and decomposers! From energy flowing from the sun to plants, animals, and even decomposers, students got a hands-on (and tasty!) way to see how everything in an ecosystem is connected.
There was so much creativity, teamwork, and thoughtful discussion happening — and maybe a few sneaky bites along the way! 😉
We love bringing science to life in ways that make learning memorable and fun. Check out these future ecologists in action!

Our Warriors celebrated yesterday by dreaming big—students came dressed as who they hope to be in the future! From future teachers and athletes to doctors and beyond, it was amazing to see their goals and creativity come to life.
We love watching our students imagine all the places they’ll go!

When Students Lead began the work of problem solving and getting to know their colleagues in their one-day student retreat.

What are we really “rebounding” toward?
Rigor = tasks that push students to analyze, justify, create, and problem‑solve – not just recall.
Engagement = students talking, collaborating, making choices, and caring about the work.
During Rigor Rebound we’re asking:
1. Does the learning task cross the Rigor Divide?
2. Do we see multiple qualities of engagement in each lesson?
Every redesign, every walkthrough, every conversation is about giving students a more powerful learning experience — and having fun while we do it.
Comment below: Which do you want to grow more this month – rigor or engagement?
